Union tourism ministry flags ‘dip’ in international visitors | KNO

New Delhi, Dec 15 (KNO): The Union Ministry of Tourism has identified a notable decline in Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in recent quarters of 2025. Replying to an unstarred question in the Lok Sabha, Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that India recorded a total of 61.83 lakh foreign tourist arrivals during the first three quarters of 2025 with Q2 from April–June the ministry said that it witnessed a notable dip compared to Q1. The Minister said the government is continuing efforts to promote India as a safe, affordable and attractive global tourism destination through infrastructure development and promotional campaigns. “Under central schemes such as Swadesh Darshan, PRASHAD and assistance to central agencies for tourism infrastructure development, financial support is being extended to States and Union Territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, for strengthening tourism-related facilities,” the minister said. He further informed that the Ministry is promoting tourism destinations through domestic and overseas publicity campaigns, digital platforms and the Incredible India Content Hub, which hosts high-quality tourism-related material for global outreach . On safety and security, the minister informed that it is primarily a state subject, the centre has been consistently engaging with States and UTs for deployment of dedicated tourist police. “Jammu and Kashmir is among the UTs where tourist police have been deployed to enhance visitor safety and confidence, he added—(KNO)
